Introducing Naomi Zaman (Canadian Pakistani Singer)

Naomi Zaman, Born on January 8, 1985 in Toronto, Canada to Pakistani Parents, Naomi Zaman was raised in a Pakistani household and growing up in Ontario, Canada gave her a good understanding of both Western and Eastern Cultures. Naomi’s mother discovered her singing gift at a very tender age of 3 years old and she performed her first live singing show on stage at the age 8 at the Brampton Civic Library where she wowed the audience with her on stage self confidence performance and angelic voice. After the performance, Naomi was noted as a charm of Elvis Presley because she shares the same birthday as the legend of Rock and Roll. Further on in High School Naomi was awarded Best Vocalist twice in a row and won Best Lead Performance at St. Thomas Aquinas School in Brampton, Ontario. Naomi Zaman did not stop exploring her gifts, in 2001 She competed and won the North American Abu Talib Temple singing competition and in 2004 she went on to win Delta Idol Competition. Naomi Zaman further performed at various ch aritable events across Canada and won the hearts of the many as a rising star in the making.

In hopes of making a difference in the Pakistani community on a global scale, Naomi Zaman competed and won Miss Pakistan World in 2005. This achievement shows Naomi Zaman’s goal to push further than her gifted singing voice; the award received as Miss Pakistan 2005 gave Naomi the opportunity to shed light on her heritage in a positive manner while promoting the culture of her native Land. Naomi went on to compete in several international pageants including Miss Tourism Queen International 2005 and notably the Miss Earth pageant, one of the three largest pageants in the world. Naomi Zaman won 2 international titles during her reign as Miss Pakistan World 2005 (Urdu: دوشیزه دنیا پاکستان). She won as second runner-up of Miss Disco Girl of the Year and Miss Best in Talent in the special events of Miss Tourism Queen International 2005. These marked the first two international special awards ever won by a Pakistani delegate.

After touring the world and meeting many faces as Miss Pakistan, Naomi took a break from the pageant world to go back to her first love which is singing. Naomi is now working on her self titled Debut Album set to be released Summer of 2010. Naomi is releasing the first Single off the album called “Rock Desi” for her long awaited fans and the public to hear a taste of whats to expect from the album. The song Rock Desi is a bass heavy Radio/Club track with Naomi Zaman’s Hindi/English pop vocals style and a pulsing futuristic metal throb that continues the electro-oriented groove. The production on the song is lush with Naomi Zaman’s orchestration type vocals, simple catchy melodies and the drums that thumps, which will get the dance-floor moving. Naomi Zaman’s powerful yet delicate vocals have lasting echos that gives the song a dreamlike feel, which does blend to the track’s lyrical content. ‘Rock This Desi Party’ as the chorus goes is written to sing/dance to and the subjective emotion behind the catchy chorus is relative to both men and women representing the Desi World. Rock Desi is specially dedicated to Naomi Zaman’s fans who have supported her over the years, its a song for all Desi People world wide to be proud of and celebrate to. Rock Desi is a catchy track that’s guaranteed to stay in your mind and get you dancing. Naomi Zaman spent years on crafting the right sound that represents her upbringing as a Canadian born Pakistani girl growing up on the sound of late 80’s pop songs fused with classic Bollywood music. Her music is a true representation of her upbringing as a bi-lingual girl with influences from 90’s R&B and Hiphop icons like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Ahmad, Michael Jackson, 2pac, Fugees, Nusrat Fateh Ali khan, Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar.

Naomi Zaman vision is to touch people from all walks of life by connecting the bridges of culture and ethnicity. She believes in finding joy in life and appreciating the things that are important, like family and friends. Her philosophies and her playfulness are manifested in her music. With her liveliness and compassion, she continues to make a place in the hearts of many.

Biography:
Zsean Ali A.k.A Zuhair Sean Ali was born on 31st December 1986, In Karachi, Pakistan, he moved from Pakistan to Canada when he was 1 year old, after completing his studies In Business Management, he joined the music industry His first song was created in 2003 with the RDB Studios Toronto, when he was only 17 years old, which was a huge hit in the region of north America, he was awarded the best Canadian south Asian singer at the age 0f 17.

He has Upto Date Done 200 Shows with Stars Like Jazzy B, Rishi Rich Project, and Many other Huge Singers including India’s Famous Himesh Reshammiya, it has been more than 6 years, and now he is a famous known personality in the music industry, he has been awarded 2 national and 1 international UK award in London Music Awards for best south Asian singer catagory. His music career continues as he spreads the magic of his music all over the world.

Who is ‘13′?
‘13′ comprises of Faraz Ahmed, Ian Eldred and Wahaj. All three of them bring a similar yet distinct approach to their music, based on idealism, pragmatism and mysticism. Their music is experimentive yet understands consumer tastes and concerns at the same time. Taking a piece-meal approach to the crafting of their music, ‘13′ allow people to enjoy new unequivocal sounds yet at the same time make a sincere effort not to alienate their listeners.

Ian Eldred:- (Vocals and bass)
Irish by descent, Ian has been an active musician in the underground music locale in Lahore, playing with a variegated range of band’s and musicians as a session bassist.
He is a summer graduate from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and is currently pursuing a British Law degree. His passions besides music are Philosophy, literature, politics and jurisprudence.

Wahaj:- (Vocals/Rhythm Guitars)
Wahaj has been involved in the underground scenes a faire for over five years, playing with a varied range of bands, from Punk Rock to Soft-core ballads such as, Azaish, Newyork Reflections and Myle. He has performed at art venues all across Pakistan and he brings with him an important urban flavour to 13’s music. Wahaj is currently studying at Punjab University and his passions beside music are drawing, dramaturgy and graphic designing.

Faraz Ahmed:- (Lead Guitar, Vocals)
Faraz has been vigorously entrenched in the Lahore underground locale for the last ten years playing with a wide range of acclaimed local bands such as The Trip, Mekaal Hasan and international artists like Heather Schmid (http://www.heatherschmid.com). He received sterling accolades from music critics during his live sessions with Noori where he was hired by them as a session lead guitar player for their live acts. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Monash University in Australia where he also played as a session musician for a wide range of Rock bands in Melbourne as well as receiving a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Lahore School Of Economics. He is a guitarist that is known not only for his technical virtuosity, but also for possessing a creative and resourceful approach to music making. His passions beside music are Politics, dialectics and the study of comparative religions.

Concept of the Song Bulandiyan by ‘13′
Bulandiyan focuses on the youth to enhance its vision and morale. It is an inspirational song which motivates the youth to realize the importance of achievement in life and that nothing is impossible with performance. Bulandiyan is like a medicine for the youth where it provides them with the sense of being able to analyze alternatives and achieve the solution within them. It also gives them a message to brainstorm ideas to find their destiny.

HISTOGRAPHY:
A child was born on 9th march 1986 in the city of Iqbal Sialkot city. Her mother gave birth to the first and only baby son in his family and after consulting to various scholars named him MUHAMMED WAQAS ALI. Then he shifted to Abu Dhabi along with his family where he grew up and completed his higher education.

DISCOGRAPHY:
His sister gifted an acoustic guitar on his birthday when he was only 8 years old due to the passion and love of music which she feels since his early childhood. The passion started to develops more and he loves to sing and copy the classical songs of USTAD NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN and USTAD AMANAT ALI KHAN. Later on he shifted to Pakistan for the completion of his higher education and completed ACCA. Waqas on his 20th birthday he organized a musical party where one of his friend named BILAL FAROOQ offered him as a lead vocals in his band after listening to the performance and amazing vocal quality and singing skills.

RAAZ KA RAAZ:
BILAL FAROOQ was the lyricist and rhythm guitarist of RAAZ THE BAND and has worked with many of the famous artists of Pakistan Music industry who later on left BILAL after stealing his lyrics and compositions. Bilal wants to present His message to the youth and peoples who respects for love and peace with his feelings of music. He chooses Waqas Ali for expressing his thoughts. Bilal is the RAAZ which means secret of this band who does not strives for fame but wants to show Waqas as his shadow face in front of the screen play.

OBJECTIVE AND AIM:
As JUNOON was the only pure rock band in Pakistan but no one has laid the concept of mixing soft rock tunes with progressive metal and hard rock distortions with trio. So introducing first time in Pakistan real metal distortions with live drum sessions with the mix of soft tunes.

PASSION:
As there is no availability of such high fidelity recording facilities in Sialkot City where a bandist can record live jam metal session but it is the hard work and dedication which gave birth to extraordinary music which is represented in the music of RAAZ.
