Synopsis:
exeQtion a short film directed by vakas siddiqui and Esha Saiyed; students of Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) casting: Syed Dawood Shah, Amna Naseem and Vakas Siddiqui himself. An Assignment for IVS Culture Kahani Fest 2008 organized by Culture Course teachers of foundation year 2008 at Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS).
This story is centered on Vakas (schon) who is a struggling young musician and he desperately needs money to launch his album. It shows how Vakas (schon), blinded by his ambition, joins an underground gang and is ordered to kill his best friend Dawood (michale) Shah for the sake of money.
The movie starts with Vakas (schon) sitting in a full white room with a woman (Amna) he does not recognize. He asks the woman where he is and who she is. To which he does not get any replies. Instead she shows him his life and a recent happening in his life- how he got an assassination job and the target was his best friend.
Amna shows Vakas (schon) the scene when Vakas (schon) is told to kill his best friend after a rehearsal.
Next, we see Vakas (schon) at home taking out his gun and thinking about the day when Dawood (michale) gave him this very gun on his birthday. It reminds him of their deep friendship. Dawood (michale) Shah and Vakas (schon) who have been friends since the last 12 years now come face to face with each other where the story takes a surprising twist, all these years Dawood (michale) had been a protector to Vakas (schon), who was with him through thick and thin.
Flashback scene ends.
Vakas (schon) is again in his room with the gun in his hand and Dawood (michale) surprisingly enters the room, Vakas (schon) hastily hides the gun behind his back. They sit to talk and Vakas (schon) loads the gun to get ready to kill Dawood (michale). But in his mind he is still confused
How he was going to kill his best friend. Vakas (schon) gets confused and doesn’t know what to do… he fumbles with the gun and then there’s a sound of a shot.
Vakas (schon) now finds himself back in the white room and Amna sitting in front of him smiling. Vakas (schon) is dazed, confused and does not remember anything, he has a panic attack and runs towards the door in the room only to find it locked. It is then when Amna gives him the TWO OPTIONS- one to take the key to the room and leave; and the other to press the button in front of him and take the 6 million dollars kept in a briefcase on the table in front of him. Vakas (schon) is baffled, firstly he doesn’t know how he ended up here, who is the lady in front of him and now she’s offering him so much money, an amount he has never seen in his entire life. Initially he thinks it’s all a joke, a plot against him but then things start to make sense, Amna then tells Vakas (schon) that if he chooses he second option and takes the money, a person in this world is going to die. On hearing this Vakas (schon) is dumbfounded and rethinks of his decision of taking the money. Amna than uses Vakas (schon)’s weakness and that is his dream to draw him towards the money. Vakas (schon) is blinded by the offer and chooses the second option.
The moment Vakas (schon) chooses the second option Amna smiles and pushes the suitcase towards him, to which Vakas (schon) asks her to tell him who he killed and suddenly blood starts trickling down his forehead.
And the scene goes back to Vakas (schon)’s room where he is battling with his thoughts about killing his best friend. But his plan backfires and Dawood (michale) takes advantage of the situation and instead shoots Vakas (schon).
