“Lifting the Veil” is a huge and impressive accomplishment – A
Riveting Film! I was fascinated to see the many aspects of Pakistan
which are not normally accessible to us on our television reportage,
and to follow a story which is rich in details of this ancient
culture.”

“Kashf” chronicles the story of one man’s search for meaning, parallel
to another man’s search for “success”.  It is so well done and so
beautifully illustrated that it is hard to know how to begin a correct
and/or fair review of this important film. “Kashf” is not only about
the inner journey, the “Sufi” path towards Truth, but it is a poignant
record of a time and an attitude to life that is under severe stress
from fundamentalism and bigotry.  KASHF is poignant, for sure, but it
is sometimes very funny, even absurd.  Then it hits you with a truth
that you can’t avoid, even while you laugh out loud.  I have lived in
India and Pakistan and have met some of the wisest sheikhs, dervishes
and malangs.  I have observed zikr in Multan and Pak Pathan, Lahore
and Karachi and even the Swat valley, so I can attest to the power of
this beautiful film.  “Kashf” has brought light into an area of
awareness and consciousness that so needs it.  Pakistan, a fairly new
country, gets a rap that is not really fair.  Lahore is a magical,
fun, spiritual place where indeed deeply spiritual people reside,
teach and practice…for the health of the planet, the future of
humanity – you should see this film.  It is a very powerful statement
about REAL life and real possibilities and TRANSFORMATION as opposed
to silliness, violence, intolerance and overall stupidity.  See this
film if you do nothing else in 2009!  HUGH ELLIOT Santa Fe, NM

My thanks go to you for the effective and important work that you are
doing on behalf of world peace with Lifting of the Veil. The more I
think about your film the more excited I get about its potential
impact, both on the viewer and as a model for other budding
film-makers.  God willing, Lifting of the Veil will lead to a sequel.

SYNOPSIS:
KASHF explores one man’s journey onto the Sufi path, the spiritual
dimension of Islam, upon his return to Pakistan after an absence of 25
years.  Armaghan was born out of an oath his mother made to a Sufi Pir
she meets when she was childless. She promises the Pir, who blesses
her, to let her son ‘walk the Sufi path’ when he grows up.  However,
shortly after his birth in Pakistan, Armaghan is sent off to the US to
live with relatives after his father’s death.  After 25 years Armaghan
returns to Pakistan to discover a lost culture, a mystic religion, and
a family secret.  His cousin, Ali, also seeks his own calling in the
nepotistic film world of Lollywood and becomes engulfed by fantastical
musical hallucinations — has he found peace or lost his hold on
reality?

KASHF is a story of universal relevance exploring humanity’s basic questions of who we are, and why we are here.  It is the hero’s journey as Armaghan embarks on his vision quest, meeting along the way messengers, guides and the Master waiting for him to awaken to his calling.

Ayesha, Thank you so much for such a beautiful film.  Seeing the film
and witnessing a glimpse
into your envisioning and manifesting of your Divine purpose was
inspirational for me.  The
film left me very self reflective on a myriad of levels such as
culture, history, commitment,
politics, spirituality and the Divine.

Ayesha
It is extraordinary to me how you were able to communicate in your
film about the process
and problems those who hear the “call” face as they find their way on
the “path”.
It is hard for an individual to explain about those things that just
“are” part of us.
Like: God is or I am a seeker.  These things are equally hard to
depict and you did it so
beautifully, so well.  Thank you, I appreciate your work.  K. Magee
